Quick Answers

  • You can rotate a video on your Android phone using Google Photos. Choose the video > Tap Edit > Crop > Select Rotate icon > Tap Save Copy.
  • Multiple video editing apps, such as GoPro Quik, InShot, etc., help flip a video on Android.
  • If you have a computer, you may transfer the videos taken on Android and rotate several videos simultaneously.

Sometimes, when I record a video on my Android phone in landscape, it doesn’t detect that and produces a video in portrait. If you face the same, you may wonder how to manually rotate video view on your Android phone.

Worry not! Most Android phones these days have pre-installed Google Photos, with which rotating a video is a breeze. However, you may also use third-party video editing apps. In this blog, I have used Google Pixel to demonstrate a step-by-step guide to rotate a video on Android.

How to rotate video on Android using Google Photos app

You can access basic video editing options on Google Photos, including flipping a video on Android. So, rather than installing additional tools, this comes in handy while dealing with basic editing.

  1. Open the Google Photos app on your Android phone.
  2. Open the video on the Google Photos that you want to rotate.
  3. Tap anywhere on the screen to bring up the controls → tap Edit.
Select the video and tap Edit
  4. Now, select Crop.
  5. Tap the rotate icon until your video is rotated to your desired orientation.
    • Note that your video will be rotated 90 degrees at a time. To custom-set the orientation of the video, use the slider to set the degrees you want to rotate your video by.
  6. Once done, hit Save Copy.
Select Crop, them rotate and adjust the slider and tap Save copy

However, if your phone doesn’t have Google Photos natively, you may download it from the Play Store. Besides, you can install some third-party editing apps on your Android for advanced editing and rotating controls.
